On the 21st of September 2007 the first annual Ride For Peace was held to coincide with Peace Day. Jeremy Gilley, founder of Peace One Day, has been on a world mission to create the first ever global cease fire day in the history of mankind. He succeeded in lobbying the United Nations and we now have that day on the 21st of September every year!
Even though the official day has been sanctioned by the UN many people have not heard about this day or take part. It is a great opportunity for the young people in the world to take action and let governments and authorities know that we want this day to work. So, Ride For Peace is expanding to include as many cable wakeboard parks around the world to show our support for such a great cause.
A big thanks to all those that got involved in 2007 and last year. We had an outstanding response with 7 countries and over 10 cable parks getting involved by holding their own events. Awesome job to all those individuals that made the committment.
It is our aim to inform as many people as we can that World Peace Day exists and to acknowledge the 21st September as that day. We are looking to involve any sport that can ride for peace and this year we will be joined by the Surfing community! The legendary Taylor Knox is our 2009 ride for Peace Surfing ambassedor and will feature in our Tv show that will be aired in the upcoming months on Extreme Tv Europe and Fuel Tv America and Australasia. There's no denying that Ride for Peace is growing and I have no doubt this year will be bigger again. if you want to get involved visit the Event page or please get in touch or let us know what your plans are so we can spread the word.
This year we have our first Global Sponsor 'Surfdome.com'. They will be distributing our Popular Ride for Peace Hoodies on their amazing online store and will even post internationally! If you missed out last year they will be available from mid July so keep an eye out on their website. The Hoodies are not only a great way to keep you warm but a great way of spreading the word and donating to the Peace One Day Charity.
If you haven't seen Jeremy's new documentary 'The Day After Peace' you can get a preview from the Peace One Day Website. www.peaceoneday.com
